During these unsual times, many of you will be reading this from home, unable to finish experiments, others might be called upon to help with clinical duties. In this newsletter we want to give you an update on the changes and subjects that are relevant for us PhD candidates. These include a letter from dean Prof. dr. Also, we are still looking for new board members!

Stay safe, and please contact us if you have any questions or suggestions.

Best wishes,
The LAP board

PS We advise you to keep an eye on the official websites of the events/summer schools/courses that are promoted in this newsletter, as some may be cancelled if the situation changes.

Prof. dr. Hogendoorn has written a letter to PhD students and Postdocs of the LUMC, and asked us to circulate this letter. You can read the letter here.

Measures extended until 28 April
Following the government decision of 31 March, all University measures that applied until 6 April (such as working from home) have been extended until 28 April. The government announced that it will issue a new decision on 21 April. In response to this, the University will decide as soon as possible which measures will be necessary after 28 April.

PhD ceremonies
As the government measures have been extended, it will not be possible to hold in-person PhD ceremonies until at least 28 April. From 6 April, PhD candidates will be given the choice of holding their PhD ceremony online or postponing it. The beadle will contact PhD candidates to discuss their decision.
